One of the Taylor County’s greatest recreational attractions is Green River Lake State Park. Encompassing 8,200 surface acres of water and over 20,000 acres of Wildlife Management Area, Beautiful Scenery and Great Outdoor Recreational Opportunities are in Abundance at Green River Lake. So, whether camping, fishing, boating, hunting, hiking, swimming, picnicking or taking in the wildlife, Green River Lake can offer something to do for all outdoor enthusiasts. Fishing at Green River Lake can be quite rewarding too. Walleye, crappie, small-mouth, large-mouth, white bass, channel catfish, muskie and bluegill are all found in good numbers in the lake. Hunting on the land surrounding Green River Lake is also popular. A number of species inhabit the lands of the Green River Wildlife Management Area including deer, turkey, rabbit, quail, squirrel, dove and waterfowl.
